Allegro is the first movement from Sonata in G K283 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and it was written in 1774, during the Classical era of western art music. Western art music in general is commonly referred to as "classical", however the Classical period was just one of four main eras within western art music. The Baroque period was from 1600 to 1750, the Classical period was roughly 1750 to the 1820s, the Romantic period was the 1820s to 1900, then there was the twentieth century era of western art music.
Mozart was an Austrian composer who lived from 1756 to 1791, and his contemporaries include Haydn, Salieri and Gluck. He demonstrated remarkable talent for playing and composing music from a very early age, and was a prolific composer. His many and varied works include symphonies, concertos, operas and chamber music.
