Making Zoom Piano Lessons Fun and Effective for Children
Zoom piano lessons are easy to set up, just use your phone, tablet or laptop. It is easy to get the right view in order to make lessons effective. Just ensure that your child's hands are visible on the keyboard. Read more about how to get set up here.
I ensure that young children have plenty of guidance when it comes to finding notes on the piano and learning to read music. I use a photography tripod and multiple webcams which enables me to achieve different camera angles in order to give a close up view of my demonstrations on the piano, when needed. This helps when children are not yet familiar with which keys are which on the keyboard. I can easily show them close up which key they should be aiming for.
During my Zoom piano lessons, I make learning fun for young children with a variety of music theory games and flashcards. My young pupils love these parts of the lessons and often request more of the same games the following week. This is a big advantage, because repetition helps reinforce what has been learned. For very young beginners, I use a variety of methods to help them learn to read the notes on the stave as well as find their way round the keyboard. A combination of these games, flashcards and music tend to be very effective for helping young children to learn these basics. I also teach technique from the start.
With older or more advanced children, I am happy to prepare them for exams, or help them learn just for fun if that is their preference. I prepare students for exams from any exam board, including ABRSM, and have an excellent record of exam results.
Whatever the child's age, preferences or abilities; I aim to help develop well rounded musicianship. I adapt the lessons in order to find the optimal way of learning for the individual child.

Ruth has been teaching my 8 year old daughter on Zoom since September 2020. It has been an absolute pleasure to see her enjoy her lessons and progress to obtain a distinction in her Initial ABRSM. Noynika is enthused to practice both her exam and non-exam pieces without needing any encouragement from me. Ruth is a calm, patient and dedicated teacher and I would highly recommend her.

We have known Ruth since my daughter was 5 (she is now almost 13). With Ruth's patience and guidance not only has my daughter flown through to grade 4, but my son has also achieved grade 2. Ruth is the calmest, kindest and most patient teacher I have ever known. She is wonderful with the children and always has a smile on her face. I cannot recommend Ruth highly enough, especially to those who have young children as she is a natural with them.
