Minuet in F major, k 5 is a short piano piece written by classical composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
It would suit piano learners of grade 1 to 2 level, and is a good study in rhythm. Care needs to be taken to ensure the correct proportions of the triplets compared with the semiquavers and quavers, whilst maintaining a steady tempo.
This piece starts off in the key of F major (B flat in the key signature), but modulates to C major by the time it reaches the end of the first half. It moves briefly through B flat major and then C major again, before returning to F major for the final section. In the fourth from last bar there is a feeling of the piece drawing to a close, but then an interrupted cadence delays this ending, helping to build up the tension slightly, which is then released by the final perfect cadence.
